Harvard Law School Professor Michael Klarman

"The Degradation of American Democracy - and the Court"

 Friday, February 19, 2021  @ 12 noon

A Joint Harvard Club of Sarasota & Harvard Club of Naples Webinar Event

Professor Klarman is back by popular demand after his amazing webinar with our Clubs in August of 2020.

Don't miss this exciting new presentation and conversation with one of the foremost legal scholars in the US.

One week after the 211th birthday of our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln, Professor Klarman will begin with ten minutes discussing some aspects of Lincoln’s legacy that may be unfamiliar to attendees.  Then he will discuss for about half an hour his recent Foreword to the Nov. 2020 issue of the Harvard Law Review, entitled “The Degradation of American Democracy—and the Court.”

He will briefly describe the recent deterioration of American democracy, its causes, the Supreme Court’s failure to stem the degradation, and some possible remedies.

PLEASE NOTE The link below will take you to the Harvard Law Review webpage with an introduction and the full text of Professor Klarman's article, which is the basis of this webinar.  A fabulous publication, we encourage all inquiring minds in our Clubs to read it before the webinar!
