Giving Back/Scholarship Committee
- The bylaws of the Harvard Club of Sarasota require that the Club maintain a Scholarship Committee to oversee and monitor the Club’s Scholarship Fund, which is managed by Harvard as part of the overall Harvard Endowment.
- The Club’s Fund was established in 1983 and has accumulated approximately $250,000 in principal since inception. Through sound investing by Harvard, the market value is substantially greater than this.
- The Fund provides for meaningful financial support each year for one or two deserving current Harvard undergraduate students (whom Harvard selects) who hail from the Greater Sarasota area.
- The Fund relies entirely on donations from Club Members and other Harvard Alums in our area.
A quote from a recent recipient:
“Harvard is the most magical place on earth-I knew from the moment I felt that powerful energy in the air that comes from having a collection of brilliant, talented, vibrant people in such close proximity. I can already see my friends growing into the leading scientists, activists, government officials, and entrepreneurs of our generation. I am honored to be counted among them and to. have been given the educational tools to make my dreams come true. Thank you.”
We urge you to give to this important cause!
